Delete your account
Your captures are yours — including the right to remove them entirely. Here's exactly how, and exactly what happens when you do.
01Two ways to delete
Deleting is permanent and removes your aviary, sightings, photos, friends and leaderboard standing.
Delete in Lifer
- Open Lifer and tap your Profile.
- Go to Settings → Account.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Confirm the deletion. That's it.
Delete by email
Send a request from the email address on your account to privacy@liferbirding.com, or follow the steps below. We'll verify it's you, delete your account, and confirm when it's done — within 30 days.
02What happens to your data
Removed
- Your profile, display name and email
- Every capture, photo and sighting
- Your points, lifers, streak and rank
- Your friend connections
Kept (cannot identify you)
- Anonymised capture records — species, date and location, no longer linked to you — kept so community statistics and species data stay accurate
- Records we're legally required to retain, for as long as the law requires
Deletion from our active systems is processed within 30 days. If you'd also like your anonymised capture records erased, just say so in your request — you can ask for full erasure at any time, as described in our Privacy Policy.
03Request deletion by email
Don't have the app handy? You can ask us to delete your account by email. So we can verify it's really you, send your request from the email address on your Lifer account.
Email our privacy team
- Email privacy@liferbirding.com.
- Send it from the email address on your account.
- Use the subject “Delete my account”.
- In the body, include your account email and a line confirming you understand deletion is permanent.
We'll verify it's you, delete your account, and confirm when it's done — within 30 days.
04Changed your mind?
No need to delete anything to take a break — just close the app. Your aviary waits, and your birds will still be out there when you come back. If you only want to stop notifications, you can turn those off in Settings → Notifications. Questions? privacy@liferbirding.com.
